Tully Smith is a Melbourne-based businessman who currently holds a number of directorships across the technology, finance, and advisory sectors. He is the Founder and Managing Director of advisory and investment firm Smith Strategic, a Director of ESG&I, the company behind ChatESG, the Co-Founder and Director of ag-tech firm Jentry Tech, and a Managing Partner at Market Span, a global trade and investment facilitation firm supporting companies in taking their products and services global.
Tully grew up in regional Australia, in potato-growing and livestock-farming country just outside the regional center of Ballarat, Victoria. His mum and dad still reside in the family home where he was raised.
Tully built a distinguished career in strategic communications, corporate affairs, and strategy, holding senior positions across government, sport, and the private sector, including roles with top ten ASX-listed companies like Telstra. His success as a strategist has seen him twice included in the Ipsos Global Reputation Council, the definitive list of the world’s most influential communicators. With only around 100 people included globally each year, Tully is one of only a small number of Australians to make the list.
With a unique understanding of government, politics, and global business, and how they intersect, Tully served as the General Manager of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AmCham) and as CEO of the Australia India Chamber of Commerce (AICC).
Passionate about his community, Tully contributes through several board-level positions in the not-for-profit sector, spanning the arts, sport, disability services, education, welfare, health and regional development. He is also proud to serve as a volunteer youth mentor with the charity Big Brothers Big Sisters. His dedication to community service has been recognised with a Prime Minister of Australia’s Award for Service to the Community.
Tully resides in Melbourne’s West with his fiancée, Agnieszka, their two adopted Siberian Huskies, Lara and her brother Ari, and their large but very loveable hound, Freddie.
