About Tully

Tully Smith is a Melbourne-based company director and strategist, known for helping organisations navigate transformation and remain deeply relevant in a rapidly shifting world. A founder, board member, and advisor across the technology, finance, and global trade sectors, he is widely respected for his ability to align systems, strategy, and people to unlock long-term value.

Tully is a Managing Partner at Market Span, a global trade and investment facilitation firm supporting companies to scale internationally. He is also a Director of ESG&I, creators of the ESG intelligence platform ChatESG, Co-Founder and Director of ag-tech venture Jentry Tech, and the Founder and Managing Director of Smith Strategic, an advisory and investment firm working with businesses at the intersection of transformation, trust, and performance.

With a background that spans corporate affairs, strategy, and international affairs, Tully has held senior positions across government, sport, and the private sector — including with ASX top 10-listed companies like Telstra. His expertise in reputation and influence has earned him global recognition, having been twice named to the Ipsos Global Reputation Council, a forum of the world’s most influential communicators. Fewer than a handful of Australians have been selected for this honour.

Tully’s commercial work is grounded in real-world experience. Raised in regional Victoria just outside Ballarat in a close-knit potato-growing and livestock-farming community, he brings the values of loyalty, hard work, and a fair go into every boardroom he enters. His parents still live in the family home where he grew up — a reminder, he says, of “why we do the work in the first place.”

A trusted bridge between the private sector, government, and global markets, Tully has served as CEO of the Australia India Chamber of Commerce (AICC) and as General Manager of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AmCham). These roles placed him at the forefront of international economic engagement, convening senior leaders from across business, politics, and diplomacy to drive trade, innovation, and strategic cooperation.

Beyond the boardroom, Tully is a passionate contributor to community life. He holds multiple board-level roles in the not-for-profit sector, spanning the arts, disability, health, education, sport, and regional development. He is particularly proud of his ongoing work as a volunteer youth mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, supporting young Australians through connection and care. His contributions have been recognised with the Prime Minister of Australia’s Award for Service to the Community.

Tully currently lives in Melbourne’s west with his fiancée, Agnieszka, their two adopted Siberian Huskies, Lara and Ari, and their large, charming hound, Freddie.
